For about half a decade from there 1996-2001 there was no player that was more feared than Jagr, nobody was better. So where do we put him amongst the top guys like Gretzky, Howe, Lemieux, Orr, Harvey, Richard & of course Obama.

Granted, he has basically become the Shaquille O'Neal of hockey: overpaid, past-their-prime, but can still chip in and still gets extra defensive attention just because of their names.

  1. Top 40.

In term of russian players I rank him as the best just ahead of Federov and Bure for now (Ovechkin could change that)

  2. I hate these Penguins fans that can't give Jagr credit just because they chased him out of town. Truth is that Jagr was one of the best #2 guys out there and you probably are listing the wrong players to compare him to. He was never on the level of a guy like Mario. When he went to Washington and they tried to make him a #1 it showed that it wasn't going to work. That's why the Rangers put other talent around him, and as to overpriced I think he pretty much made his money up in the playoffs.

  3. As a devoted fan of the (almost stanley cup winners) Pittsburgh Penguins, I say Jagr is DEAD LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Perhaps in the top 20.  In his prime when he was dancing with the cup in the 'Burgh, he was probably the second best player in the league.

  5. In my mind, he's one of the strongest, most determined players to ever lace 'em up. People tend to forget that he was just a part time player on the Pens "Cup" teams but was a feared player by all he faced. He & Mario & Ron Francis, Kevin Stevens, Rick Tocchet, Joey Mullen, "Trots" & Co. put Pittsburgh on the NHL map & insured that hockey would stay in Pgh. The Pens' predecessor, the Hornets of the AHL were always in the Calder Cup finals, but the town really didn't embrace hockey till Mario & Jags set the league on fire.

  6. ok heres how it goes

    GRETZKY

    howe

    ore

    lemieux

    JAGER

    harvy

    richard

    OBAMA SUCKS GO MCCAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

AND DETROIT WILL WIN THE CUP

  7. He is not in my top 15 that's for sure.

  8. I'd say he's definitely Top 10.  He's 12th in goals (646), 13th in assists (953), and 9th in total points (1599) in 1273 games played.  Besides awards and 2 cups, his points per game is pretty impressive and in his prime, he was the most feared player in the world.  He could control a game....if he wanted to do so.  That will always be his biggest knock.  His desire and leadership will always be a huge question mark on his career.

  9. Gretzky

    Lemieux

    Howe

    Orr

    Jagr

    Richard

    Messier

    hes top 5 worthy

Edit: just thought id let you know hes not russian, hes Czech... top player from there
