Question:

Where does Palin stand on abortion?

I read she's against it in every case except when the mother's life is in danger. Now it's one thing to be against it when used for birth control which to an extent is wrong in my view. However to honestly sit there and say that it's wrong in cases of rape and incest is a bit extreme to me. It's extreme and a bit outlandish. It's one thing when a person was reckless however if the woman was raped or the child is a product of incest she imo has every right to have the child aborted.

To me abortion is a woman's choice and a woman's alone. In the end if a woman really wants an abortion she'll get a dangerous back alley one which is very risky.

  1. She is pro life

    " L I F E "

  2. Sarah Palin is pro-life.  She does not accept the premise that the child of a rapist should be given the death penalty but not the rapist himself.  However, that is her personal view and has nothing to do with Roe v Wade.  Even if Roe v Wade is overturned, abortion will not become illegal.  It will be up to each State to decide if they want to allow it or not.  That is how it was before Roe.

Some States allowed unlimited access to abortion just like Roe, some States limited it to the first trimester and some outlawed it entirely. For instance it was illegal in New Jersey but legal in New York.  So, you just had to jump on a train or bus if you lived in New Jersey and wanted an abortion.

While I am firmly anti-abortion and work to persuade others who are for it, being a true Conservative I would never try to force my opinion on anyone else.  The only way Abortion could be made completely illegal in all States would be by amending the Constitution. Doing it by Judicial Fiat is the Liberal way.  Roe v Wade was an abuse of power and bad law.  The only way to make abortion legal in every State is to have a Constitutional Amendment also.  Therefore, it is highly unlikely that either the pro life or pro abortion sides would every muster the support for an Amendment.  You should understand that even if Roe is overturned (which it should be)  you will still be able to have all the abortions you want.  At best, you will be a bit inconvenienced.

  3. i agree

the federal government should never get in americans personal business

  4. Pro-Life!

    I love Mellissa's answer.

  5. Palin is against abortion rights.

  6. I suppose the idea of a woman valuing child birth is somewhat of an unusual concept in this day and age. Going to take some time to adjust to.

  7. >>It's one thing when a person was reckless however if the woman was raped or the child is a product of incest she imo has every right to have the child aborted.<<

Opposing abortion isn't about punishing women for being "reckless"; it is about saving the lives of human beings. A child conceived through rape or incest is still a human being with the same right to life as any other human being.

  8. I'm against abortion .. period.  If you're raped, you go to the ER and they do certain procedures to prevent a pregnancy.  If it's incest, chances are, you would be using this as birth control.  If the mother's life is in danger .... most mothers would chose to go on with the pregnancy, it's what real mothers do.

Palin is a Republican - she's against killing babies.  And have any of you noticed how neither she nor McCain have to stop and think about what they're for or against - what they believe in what's right or wrong?  Obama can't give you a straight answer to save his skin.

  9. Pro Life! She values life.

  10. she is against it and for all the right reasons, in history the emperors and others in positions of power married their own family members and while i do not condone that practice there are a lot of wealthy in America that would not be here if abortion was legal then and just think we might have lost some important achievement from them if it is a woman's choice who lives and dies then why not just proclaim the one making the choice God or better yet pass a law that says if you have an abortion other than for endangered life then you should be sterilized and allowed no kids at all

  11. While you may find her position "extreme", I find it truly feminist and am thrilled that the position of women like myself is finally being heard.

  12. McCain was not approved by the Christian Right because he is not solidly pro-life.  That's one reason he picked Palin, she is totally, completely, uncompromisingly pro-life, also pro-creationism, pro-gun, etc.

That's what the McCain campaign was looking for in a VP candidate, to mollify the Christian Right and get them on board.  And it's the main reason Mitt Romney was -out-.

  13. That's McCain's stance as well. The Republican platform concerning abortion gives no exceptions for rape, incest, or even the life of the mother. That's their official platform. McCain initially had given a bit of push against it in an effort to change, but relented when he realized it would be political suicide to do so.

I don't know why you're so shocked as the Republican party's platform is in itself extreme and something that the majority of Americans do not agree with.
