Where does a blimp park? If an airplane parks at an airport and a helicopter parks at a heliport, does a blimp park at a blimport?

  1. I heard that one blimp parked at the top of the onion dome in Chicago.

  2. If they're upper class blimps, they park in a hangar.

Otherwise, they are tethered to a mooring mast, which can be located just about anywhere the wind is calm.

Needless to say, the first airport was invented to accommodate airships, since airplanes had not been invented.

  4. A pretty cool look at the historical relevency of airships (blimps) is found at the Tillamook Naval Air Station in Tillamook, OR.  Here's some of what the site says:

Blimp Hangar B deserves recognition as the largest free-standing wooden structure in the nation. Built in 1943, the hangar measures 192 feet high and 296 feet wide, and is 1,072 feet long. Over seven acres of land is enclosed inside, of which the sizable museum barely takes up half.
