  2. The place where fertilisation is taking place is called the ovary of the flower.

  3. between the pistol and the stamen

  4. When the nucleus of the pollen grain fuses wth the nucleus of the egg cell. Fertilisation takes place at the ovary.

  5. It takes place in the ovary of the flower when the male cell fuses with the female cell(ovule). The male cell travells through the pollen tube to the ovary.

  6. Please note that the ovule within the ovary is not the female gamete of flowering plants!

The ovule is the female gametophyte (megagametophyte).  Within the ovule of an angiosperm is one egg cell, two cells beside it known as synergids, a large central cell with two nuclei (polar nuclei), and three cells at the far end known as antipodals.

In angiosperms, there are two fertilization events, not just one.  One sperm from the pollen tube fuses with the egg to form the zygote, which develops into the embryo.  The second sperm fuses with the two polar nuclei in the central cell to form the primary endosperm nucleus.  After many nuclear divisions this second fertilization forms the endosperm.

Endosperm in dicots is absorbed by the cotyledons during development of the embryo.  In monocots, the endosperm is present in the mature seed.

  7. Hi,

Fertilization takes place in the flower's ovary.

The male gamete from the pollen is transported from the stigma down the style and into the ovary where it fertilizes the female gamete (the ovule).

    I hope this helps.
