  1. hybrid fuel can come from electricity, the sun, wind etc.. most hybrid cars use electricity and gasoline together.

  2. The term hybrid vehicle refers to that the vehicle has two propulsion systems.  Commercial hybrids use both a gasoline engine ( just like the ones found in any other modern car ) and an electric motor.

The gasoline engine, just as the name suggests, uses gasoline.  The electrical motor supplements the power ( on certain vehicles, it can run the vehicle by itself at slow speeds ) going to the wheels in order to save on fuel.

  3. Logsdodl's answer covers hybrid cars well.  As to fuels, three types of fuel are available to drivers.  Gasoline, diesel, and ethanol.  Gasoline and diesel are derived from crude oil.  Ethanol is alcohol which is derived from fermenting primarily corn.

Another source of fuel is biodiesel.

In a recent article in our local newspaper cites that for every one unit of energy consumed to produce ethanol, it only returns 1.2 units of energy.  By contrast, biodiesel returns eight units of energy for each unit of energy consumed during production.

Can't wait for car companies to offer diesel hybrid drive trains in their vehicles.

  4. Hybrid vehicle uses a electrical motor and fuel powered engine.  For the electrical motors they use batteries for their power which can be recharged while driving the vehicle or plugged into an electrical outlet.  Fuel powered engine is usually gas which can be bought at any gas station.

  5. you are using the wrong terms. Hybrid engines are able to run on different fuel like petrol/gas; petrol/electricity gas/electricity and so on. Hybrid is is a term used when you use two or more different things to achieve one goal.

There are  for example hybrid coils, hybrid computers, hybrid clients, hybrid farming and hybrid cars.

  6. The gas station, a hybrid uses regular gasoline, also runs on batteries that charge themselves.

  7. From hybrid crude oil.
