  3. I would agree completely that the name is of Spanish origins.

    Just to warn you that the name being from Spain, does not equate with your FAMILY being from Spain. Historically, Spanish explorers were all over the world.. including Mexico, South America, the Phillipines...so forth.

    If your only interest is in the name, then generic info works. If you are interested in your ANCESTRY, the only accurate way is to work from YOU, backwards, and find where your ancestors actually lived. Your ancestry could be more German (or anything) than Spanish, depending on who the ancestors actually were.
