it's the opposite of positive.  You can't have one without the other.  Now what can cause it?  Fear is one of the biggest contributing factors.  That nasty little thing called fear can cause anger and hate.  Also, not understanding, if you don't understand it, you fear it.  So hence, the better educated you are, and also have common sense to go with it, the less likely you are to be negative.  Not always, just less likely.

Once, in my younger days, when I was stoned on high-grade indica, I realized that thought waves ran along straight-lined grids and hit random people who happened to be standing there.
