Some resources are removed from underground. These are non-renewable, finite resources such as iron, silver, coal, oil, and etc. Some underground resources such as water are recycled.

Other natural resources are renewable. These are plants such as trees and grass.

An example of an extra-terrestrial natural resource is solar power.  The sun is a finite resource but its lifetime is projected to be so long as to outlast humanity plus it cannot be managed, at least by humans, so what energy that we can trap is 'free' energy.
