Where does that door on the front of some locomotives lead to?

My guess is that it goes to cab, but im still not sure, I just need proof.

DO YOU MEAN STEAM OR DIESEL.STEAM WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SMOKEBOX AND DIESEL PROBABLY WHERE THE ROUTE INDICATOR IS HOUSED SOME OF THESE WOULD GIVE YOU ACCESS INTO THE CAB.

don't know about all locomotive's but on some it is the restroom door.

On North American Safety Cabs, Such as GE dash 9's and ES 44 types, or most of the EMD's (GM) "Mac's"...   When you walk in, you take about 3 steps into a small compartment (nothing but a vent inside), then  there's  another door, then inside that door,  to the right is your restroom, just beyond that is the refrigerator, to the left is storage and misc supplies and electrical stuff,2 more steps in and it go's up 2steps to the main floor, to the right is where the conductor and the brakeman sits, on the left is where the engineer sits....

The door allows access to the engine's cab, and a way to walk back through the locomotive consist.  On some locomotives, such as the "wide bodies" (encompassing several classes of locomotive by different manufacturers), the rest room door is just inside on the right hand side.

Other locomotives have an access from inside the deck of the cab, either center front, into the nose of the engine, or to the rear of the cab (most common on older GE locomotives), for access to toilet facilities.

Short answer?  The door is there so you can get in.
