Where does the 8600gt draw its power?

does it draw from the motherboard so it has no power connectors or does it have a six pin thing

I think it depends on the manufacturer. Some appear to have the 6-pin PCI-E connector, and some don't, which is kinda odd. I can't think of the last video card I had that was powered through the bus.

the 8600GTS does have the extra connector

the 8600GT does not, and draws all it's power from the pcie slot

after further research it appears that some of the overclocked models require the extra connector, the standard models however do not
