I need to know the exact place, which street the Interislander terminal is located at and how far away it is from the Wellington airport. How long would it take to reach the airport from the terminal and what means of transport are available from the terminal?

  1. Hi. The transcoastal is the train from Christchurch to Picton - both on the South Island. As you are going to mention i assume you have the ticket which connects to the ferry from Picton to Wellington. The ferry arrives at the Interislander Ferry Terminal which is either a 500 metre straight walk, or, more preferable a 5 minute drive between the ferry terminal and the train terminal.

There is a FREE transfer service between the ferry terminal and the railway station.

from memory, the ferry from Christchurch which is part of the transcoastal service ticket arrives at approx 4:30....

From the railway station you could get a bus or a shuttle/taxi.

From the railway station - your directions to the airport are as follows. This is assumng the Ferry shuttle drops you off around platform 9:

Go into the main concourse from the ferry van. You will see a small "new world' supermarket. Turn right.  and head widthways along the main area of the station. Walking along you will have the pub and the National Bank ATM on your right. head through the doors. You will then be in a tunnel/under road subway. Walk along about 20 metres then go up the escalater. From the escalater keep to heading to the left. Walk outside and again, head outside to the left. You will have a coffee shop on your left. walk past the coffee shop. on your next left will be another national bank ATM

    and...

opposite the ATM will be the bus stop. Keep an eye out for the airport bus. If it doesnt stop automatically, just flag it down by holding your arm our at waist level and look at the driver :)

BTW, if you do decide to get the bus, just ask people where you should go - us Wellingtonians are a friendly lot :)

If getting a shuttle or taxi the instructions are slightly different:

When you get out of the ferry shuttle, head straight through the station. Keep New World supermarket on your left and head straight out the doors to get outside again. You will have shuttles probably on your right and taxi's on your left. 'Wellington Combined' taxis will probably be around $25 to $30 from the Railway Station to the Airport. Shuttles will probably be around $20. You may need to book the shuttle in advance. you wont need to book the taxi in advance.

I don't accept instant messages, but, if any part of this isn't clear feel free to email me. I go through the station every day and very regularly direct people on how to get to the airport :)

btw, it costs about $7.50 to get to the Airport and it takes about 45 minutes - 1 hour. but, i would actually recommend it if you are not in a rush. It goes through wellington and you get a chance to see a few places.

  2. There is the Stagecoach Flyer which is a bus that goes to the airport. I've put some links below, a map which has the Interislander Terminal  on it.

    Have fun!!

  3. Its about a 15 minute drive from the airport. You wouldnt want to walk because its quite far. Taxi's leave from the interislander terminal so catching a taxi to the airport would be easy
