I know, to some extent, where the sodium goes - i.e. in the cells and stuff. But, when salt is broken down in our bodies, where does the chloride part go?

  1. It moves from the tubular filtrate of the kidneys into epithelial cells and interstitial space to help restore electrical neutrality in the body that becomes imbalanced by the positive charge effect of sodium.

  2. i think it is used as waste or it goews to the cell. im not rly sure.

  3. As said above, it's used for maintaining charge balances. It is also used to make hydrochloric acid in the stomach for digestion.
