I was wondering where the gas comes from when your pumping your gas .i would like to see a diagram of the design. I cant seem to find any but i know that theres a imported crude oil, a domestic crude oil, then they take it to a refinery storage a pipe line storage then they take it to a bulk terminal storage which then the tanker truks then take it and transport it to the gas stations if thats correct ... but what i would like to know is what's under ground. because there's different gas that you can put into your car are there different tanks under ground how big are they and so on? is there a diagram i can see or if someone can explain this to me better that would really help.

  1. there are under ground tanks, that,s where the gas comes from and it goes to the pump and you pump it into your car.you ever see those big tanker trucks at a gas station?, well they are filling the under ground tanks and when you see them there, go to another station, because they stir up the dirt and you get the dirt.

  2. Here you are. EPA's website. Pics and all of installation, removal, etc.

    Good luck.

  3. big trucks come and fill up underground tanks with normal gas and then it pumps up thru the pump into your vehicle.

  4. Depending on the station there may be as many as 5 tanks, unlead, plus, premium, diesel and red diesel.

Tank size varies according to amount they sell for instance a 15,000 gallon tank may be divide with 5,000 for premium and 10,000 for unlead and have a mixer usually 20% premium to 80% unlead for the plus or midgrade.

I have delivered to stations that have 25,000 gallon unlead tanks. The difference between diesel and red diesel is a colored additive that denotes untaxed or farm fuel

  5. big underground tanks, there are small circular metal disks on the gas stations lot that trucks come and pump gas into. They kinda look like small sewage covers, but they lead to big concrete and metal containers.
