Where does the last name Dubuisson originate?

I was born here, in the U.S., Florida. My parents are from Haiti. My father's last name is Dubuisson and my mother's last maiden name is Jean-Michelle..Anyone know? I would like to trace my ancestry.

  1. Normandy. Although, if your parents are not whites, they probably have their ancestor's "owners" name as their last name, now. So knowing your last name if your ancestors were in slavery won't really help unless you can figure out who their "owners" were and where they were "bought" from. Which could lead to dead ends everywhere (especially if ancestors were bought/sold as children from different regions. They don't usually keep those records.)

    Otherwise, Ancestry.com is a great site to start out your search if you know your parent's full names and their parent's full names and all their birthdates and places. For free, you can look at other people's trees and match up parent's parent's parents names etc.
