Where does the last name Koury come from?

Koury is an Arabic variant of Khoury, a surname from Lebanon and Syria derived from the Arabic word, "Khuri," meaning priest, in particular a Christian priest.  I know of several Khourys living in Waco, Texas, whose ancestors are Syrian.
