  1. The Earth is turning from West to East.

  2. Due to the rotation of the Earth, ALL objects in the sky appear to rise in the East and set in the West.

    .

  3. observe it yourself. where *does* it set?

  4. west... same as the sun! It may be North-west or South-west... but it's always west. And it's because the earth rotates from west to east.

  5. Everything in the sky rises in the East and sets in the west – sun, moon, planets, stars, etc.

That is because the Earth rotates west to east.

What! did you think the Earth might decide to rotate differently for the moon.

Think you ought to get out more.

Permission to add this to my list of daftest astro questions.  Thanks

  6. the moon always sets in the west and it comes out in the east. sometimes it is in a different location though. not only does the earth rotate, but the moon orbits the earth.
