  1. The name Vaas appears a lot in Sri Lanka notation.

However.....there is an Italian surname of GERVASI was originally derived from the Norman personal name GERVASE, composed of the element GARI (spear).

That name has numerous variant spellings which include GERVIS, GERVASE, GERVOIS, GERVEX, HERVAS, VAAS, FAAS, and FASIN.

Those names under those different spellings were actually quite popular throughout Europe in the Middle Ages.

  2. Probably India. The name is sometimes accompanied by 'de' as in Sajin de Vaas, suggesting that it may have come from Portuguese traders who went to India. Well-known Vaas: Chaminda Vaas - bowler for Sri Lanka.

  3. sri lanka
