Where does the phrase "Jinks, buy me a coke" come from? I've heard it once on The Office and also on Seinfeld?

  1. The previous poster actually answered correctly.  But, we were saying that in the 60's when I was a kid.  If you and your friend said the same thing, the first one to say "Jinx, you owe me a Coke" won.  We rarely got the Coke, but it was fun.


  2. I've always heard it as "Jinx, buy me a soda," after two people say the same thing at the same time. I think it originated in school yards. When I was younger, in the 90's, I would do that with my friends in elementary school whenever we unintentionally said the same words/phrase together. There were also variations on it when I was younger, sometimes the person who got jinxed wasn't able to talk until a third person said their name, if the person who got jinxed would speak when they weren't supposed to they would get punched. It's just a playful children's game. I've also read it in "Babysitter Club" books from the 80's.
