  1. Yes. Every time someone goes to a website, money magically appears in the webmaster's bank.

  2. There are various ways how a website earns money. The easiest and the most popular ones are affiliate programs. Companies pays a website owner by placing advertisements on the their website from an advertiser. If a visitor clicks the ads, a website owner earns depending on how much the advertiser gives (this is called CPC or Cost Per Click)

The other one is CPA or cost per action. If a visitor clicks the ads and visit the website of the advertiser and buys his products, a commission will be given to the website owner.

There are other things like selling a product or services using your website. One example is Amazon or other eStores that sell various products. On selling services, there are membership sites like dating sites and forums that a member has to pay a monthly or yearly subscription.

There are still many more ways and only limited by your imagination.

  3. their advertisers...for everyperson who looks at the advertisment they get money for it

  4. advertisements! Just like how corporations dish out billions of dollars each year in advertisements on television stations, website owners get money from advertisements. How the money is divided up depends on the contract the advertisement company has with the web host. It can be the number of views of the website, the number of clicks on the ad, or a percentage of the profit gained from advertiser's new customers.

  5. From the ads. Unless it's a phishing site.
