Im Stuck with my Law Competition. Can someone answer ''Where does the right to be tried by a jury originate from....I would be thankful.

    The Assize of Clarendon (1166) established procedures of criminal justice including a jury.

Every one so far is right.  The British (Magna Carta)developed a legal system based on prior philosophies, which provided for a jury of ones peers to oversee the evidence against you, and determine if you should be convicted.  This was an attempt to prevent abuse of the legal system by the government.  The US just broadened the concept, and made its application more universal.

  9. England. It goes back to the Magna Carta times. A jury of your peers. It did not mean that ordinary folks could demand a jury of their peers. Peers were technically bluebloods but the practice spread as the Brits gradually democratized.

  10. Since time immemorial, men had dissected many method on how to punish offenders.  Thus, the jury system evolved from generations of practices to make criminals answerable for their offenses.
