    some of the families carrying this name  immigrated to various parts of greece as well as to far destinations (australia,zambia etc).

    zaloumis comes from za= greek ζα = πολυ = a lot

    and latin lumen = light

    so you can have 2 conclusions

    meaning s= either a person with bright characteristics or

    a clever/luminous person with intelligence.
