Where does this Bill Cosby quote come from?

Bill Cosby was attributed to many quotes in his lifetime, most are not involved in his TV shows, but sayings he said when interviewed. Some came from his many albums and I can't actually track down the origin of this piece leading me to believe it was a one off quote said in an interview somewhere. Further reasearch might dig up the original quote, give me time.

Because Cosby has been a comedian for a long time and has done so much stand up and written so many books it might be difficult to tie this one down.

But because this one is so well known I'm guessing that it is from his stand up and probably from the late middle part of his career probably during the time when he had his last TV show.
