  1. It goes into the sewer and then into a treatment plant then into a natural body of water like river or lake or may be even ground water. Then plants can use it and it will evaporate from the surface of the plants(evapotranspiration)or it can evaporate  immediately into the atmosphere and then it will come down to the ground in some form of precipitation like snow or rain. And the cycle continues.

  2. This really depends upon where you are located.  There are still areas in rural North America where bath water and water from the kitchen sinks are just run out a pipe downhill in the back yard.  These may not be the safest method (or even legal) but it is done.

Locations which have a well or cistern for their water supply usually have some form of septic tank and leach bed for wastewater disposal.  The household plumbing delivers the wastewater to a tank were solids are separated and the liquid is acted upon (usually by microbes).  The water is then sent to a leaching field where it is absorbed into the ground a safe distance from the water supply.

Urban locations are more diverse and complicated, but most have a 3 step process which removes solids,  aerobically digested and then purified.  Some locations use this water by recycling back into the tap water treatment system.  Other locations allow it to be released back into the environment (where it will eventually reach the oceans).  There are probably as many different details to the treatment steps as there are locations.

Take a look at the sites below:

  3. Ocean =[)

  4. It goes to a treatment plant and is then recycled. The average glass of water in london passes through 7 people before reaching the sea.

No wonder people buy bottled !

  5. Down the sewer and back to the water treatment plant.

  6. Used water coming from your household either goes into the septic tank in the backyard where it'll evaporate or seeps back into an aquifer or the water will go to a sewage treatment plant through the sewer system (sewers)

  7. sewers

  8. you can most likely determine that by the looks or taste of it.
