Where does wording for wedding vows come from?

Each religion and culture seems to have its own wording for a wedding ceremony and the vows that are made. Where did it come from?

  1. In the 1500s there was a book written called 'The Common Book of Prayer'.  Changes were made sometime in the 1600s but the marriage ceremony we so often here....Dearly Beloved: We have come together in the presence of God to witness and bless the joining together of this man and this woman in Holy Matrimony..........was written in 1928.

    Different denominations have changed the marriage vow to suit their belief & some vows used today are written by clergy & couples alike, but they all have the same theme/intent as the one found in the CBP
