the wedding ceremony?

I'm getting married, and this had never crossed my mind!

Are you supposed to wear the engagement ring during the ceremony? Take it off and then back on afterward?

  1. I am going to give mine to my sister/MOH to wear.  I would wear it on my right hand, but it doesn't fit! (too small on most fingers; too big on my pinky!)

the wedding band is supposed to go closest to your heart, so I would recommend not wearing your engagement ring during the ceremony.

  2. Some poeple get the two welded together so the engangment and the wedding ring become one. and thats what he places in your finger

  3. You can:

    - Leave it at home

    - Have someone hold it for you during the ceremony, then put it back on

    - Wear it on the opposite hand

    - Have the groom slip the wedding band on top of the engagement ring, switch later

    - During the ceremony, have the groom remove it, put the wedding band on your finger, then replace the engagement ring on top of it

  4. You can do little ceremony with the engagement ring, too, before the exchanging of wedding bands. It's supposed to symbolize your love and relationship before you were married, and the wedding band symbolizes your future love, etc. If you did choose to do this, the engagement ring would be with whomever you have put in charge or your wedding band.

  5. I'd say keep it on.

  6. You know, I just left my engagement ring on, and during the ceremony I put my wedding band on in front of it -- then switched them while waiting for everyone to assemble a receiving line :-)  But some people put their engagement ring on the right hand, then put the band on, then switch the engagement ring over.  It's up to you!  My engagement ring wouldn't fit on my right hand so I had to leave it on my left :-)

  7. Some women put the e-ring on the ring finger of their right hand, until after the ceremony. I had my wedding & e-rings soldered together before the wedding so I didn’t have to worry about it.

  8. I would say wear it on your right hand during the ceremony.  The wedding band always (traditionally) goes on first.  So it is closest to the heart.  That started back in Ancient Egypt when they believed that a vein ran straight from your left ring finger to your heart.

Your engagement ring can follow after it.

  9. i kept mine on and he just placed the wedding band over it and i switched it after the ceremony. you can have your moh wear it. like give it to her before the processional or just wear it on your right hand. but make sure you wear it for your pre ceremony photos it looks beautiful in them

  10. You wear it. Then he will put the wedding band on with it.

    k

  11. You can do whatever you want. I'm going to wear mine on the opposite hand and then put it back on my left hand after the ceremony.

  12.   theoreticly your supposed to take the engagment ring off and put it on your right hand ring finger during the ceremony.  during the ceremony you put the ring on your left hand ring finger, then after the ceremony you can wear them in whatever order you wish on your left hand ring finger

  13. I would suggest putting it on your right hand before and during the ceremony. I like the idea of having my wedding ring 'closer to my heart', so I'd put the engagement ring on top of the wedding ring after the ceremony.

  14. engagement ring gets switched to your righ hand ring finger for the ceremony.  Then goes on top of the wedding band afterwards.  The wedding band is always on the bottom because of some old tradition that it should be "closer to your heart".  You can wear them reversed if you want, doubt ANYONE would ever notice anyways. But during the ceremony the engagement ring gets put on the right hand.

  15. Some women wear the engagement on their right hand, but I personally recommend leaving the engagement ring on the left hand and having your fiance put the wedding band over it.  After all, he spent good money on the ring, and the ring exchange is the perfect time to showcase it!
