I live in Virginia but want to live in Alaska. I thought I would try to find a job then I can move up there. I have looked on CareerBuilder.com and Monster.com and Hotjobs.com. are there any other place to search?

  1. according to the Alaska Department of Labor the job market is very weak, unemployment is about 1 to 1&1/2 percent higher then the national average and is getting worse. the department states there are more then enough current residents to fill all the open positions in Alaska. the article also warns about internet job offers and scams and suggest you have a minimum of $3000.00 on hand before you arrive to help with expenses along with a solid job offer.

i hate to burst your bubble but tought a little honesty might be good.

this link is to a lot of info from the Alaska Department of Labor:

  2. Craigslist. Select the area in Alaska you want to live and check craigslist for that area. Homer seems nice.

  3. internet

  4. Try looking at the classified ads online: Anchorage Daily News and the Fairbanks Miner News. Good luck to you.
