Where has all the white dog poo gone?

Do you remember years ago all the dog poo used to be white and chalky? Why was that, and why has it changed?

For some reason watching the Rose of Tralee reminded me of summer holidays, grazed knees and white dog poo. Go figure.

  1. It's all down to the fact that dogs don't eat as many bones as they used to. They have all that fancy Pedigree Chum stuff these days.....

Don't ask us how we know, we just do!

  2. Possibly our crappy summer.  In Madrid there's plenty of dehydrated white chalky dog poo.  I blame global warming.

  3. Maybe it's because more socially responsible people pick it up these days

  4. Probably has something to do with global warming :)

  5. Ahhh that takes me back to my childhood! lol yeah ya did used to see it all over the place. I haven't had a dog for years so don't see so much dog poo as in days gone by lol I guess the heat thing is about right since some doesn't exist unless you go abroad now it seems.

Or maybe white dog poo is a magical sight only visible to children with our innocent eyes and once we grow up an get hardened by this cruel world we can't see it any more haha

  6. It went out of style.

  7. Yea, and yellow snow!!!!!!

  8. Wow! I remember that too! I agree that it has to be the weather, white dog poo was all dried up with the fine weather...but now our summers are completely wet...hence the moist dog poo lately (sorry for being gross!)

Remember when you didn't mind so much stepping on it because it would just brush off with grass no bother...nowadays thankfully some dog owners use the poopascoopers ha ha.

It was the same thing with cow dung in field during summer walks, I recall don't step on the brown/black stuff...the white wasn't too bad!

I think I should change the subject now....

    :)

    Oh...and I love Mariam's theory on it!

  9. It's down to dietary changes.

This question's been asked about four times.Isn't it strange that something like this would be a popular question?LOL

I just mentioned it to my better half  and font of all knowledge tells me back in Victorian times they used dog poo for leather tanning and the people collected it to sell to the tanners.White dog poo commanded a slightly higher price because it had a higher lime content.

Anyone says I'm talking S**t gets a slap.
