  1. no

  2. Each modern locomotive has a black-box recorder on it, and these are the records that are kept, not crossing-gate recorders.  Some of the engines even have little cameras pointing forward through the windshield - usually newer ones, but I've seen them retro-fitted into older ones too.

  3. We are always told the the automatic gates tell what time they were actuated and what speed and direction the train was going over the crossings.

I am certain that any crossing upgraded or installed recently will have this technology but there are a lot of older crossings out there that probably wont.

So, the answer is going to be yes and no.

If there are such records they are company property and they are NOT going to release this to the public without a court order.

  4. I belive there is something like a black box that the railroad

can check if there was a incident

( about 4 to 5 months ago a car was hit by a metrolink train

and I read or saw on the news Metrolink authorities were

checking the Black box to see if the gates lowered or not

  5. I'm sure they probably do. Call em.

  6. If you asking for crossing time to avoid train, there is none. Most trains vary in time due to a number of reason.
