Im looking for gifts that are also easy to bring back to Oz and would like jewellery, toys and small items like keyrings / books and dolls which reflect traditional New Zealand.

  1. If you're going to Auckland, try the top of Queen Street, next to Aotea Square. There's a little shop that has all sorts of 'treasures' for a relatively low price. It's the shop I bought my stuff from to give as gifts when I travelled to Russia.

For jewellery, go to High Street. There's a shop called ... 'Melanesia' I think. It has some cool stuff. Even better, head to Ponsonby Road in Ponsonby and a shop called 'Shell Shock'. I love that place!

Alternatively, Aotea Square has a pretty good market on Friday's & Saturdays. You'll find some nice stuff there.

For books, I recommend 'Borders Book Store'. Also towards the top of Queen Street.

I suspect dolls will cost you a bit. I'm not a doll person, so I'm only guessing here.

    Have a great time!
