  1. For me the Gold Coast is the worst - touristy, trashy, made deliberately ugly by over development and bad architecture,a cultural vacuum, populated by shallow people who think a cheap theme park is living

Further up the coast is Noosa which shows how such a place should have been developed would be OK. Sydney & Melbourne are good for a cosmopolitan lifestyle.

  2. Most hate to live ; SYDNEY

used to live there and would never go back.

Most like to live ; right where Im am now,and it is a little hick place in the middle of nowhere,,hot, dry, dusty, but no bloody neighbours and no bloody traffic and no bloody sticky beaks !

  3. australia is littered with a million c**p country towns. just pick 1 at random. i'm sure they are all as crappy as each other.

i'd live in sydney at bondi beach (where i do now =))

i know i sound like an uptight eastern suburbs btich but i dont care!

  4. Tasmania. It just seems a bit cold down there plus all the incest jokes. Still, I think the Gold Coast is a fantastic place to live in even if there isn't many media-related shops. I'd say Sydney, Melbourne or Perth as the three best places to live in. I shouldn't give bias to Perth just because I've lived there all my life so I'd said Sydney is the most appealing.

  5. Ingham or Townsville North QLD are both as worse as each other Ingham is so boring so everybody drinks its a small town with like 10 pubs but then again the country side around is ok and Townsville is just so much worse its hot and HUMID all the time talk about hicksville

btw i lived in these places for a awhile so yes i think i know

Brisbane/ Gold Coast is the best - Perfect one day Sunshine the next-

  6. Wow. Some varied answers above.

To Ross: I know quite a few people living on the Gold Coast and can assure you they're not "shallow". The various amusements built on the GC are for the benefit of tourists, not the locals.

I've done a lot of travel around Australia, and generally found that most places are 'livable' and have a reason for being. Having said that, alas, I have a dislike for small country towns plonked in the middle of a flat, dry, hot, boring landscape, such as Narrabri and the like. Yes, I'm sure that the folk who inhabit such towns are wonderful, and they have a 'reason' for living there, but they are cordially welcome to it.

Where like to live? State by State:

    Queensland: Kuranda (current)

    NSW: Byron Bay

    Vic: somewhere in the Dandenongs

Tas: Sheffield or anywhere around Mt Roland

    S.A.: Can't think of anywhere

    W.A. Coral Bay

    N.T. Alice Springs (in winter)

  7. Claymore a suburb of Campbelltown, south west of Sydney is the worst place in Australia.

I would live anywhere else in Australia it is all truely beautiful

  8. I would hate to live where there are too many people. Like the main cities like Sydney, and where it's too hot, like Queensland. Or where there isn't enough water like the outback, so you can't have a decent shower without being reminded all the time that we should cut back on water.

I wouldn't mind trying out Tasmania. I don't mind the cold as I have lived in Lithgow before and a Tasmanian told me that it's colder in Lithgow than in Hobart where he was from. I like country towns as long as they have all the amenities there, like decent shops that don't cost the earth to shop in and town water, and broadband.
