We are thinking of going to Australia this December. Where is the best places to go and why? We have already been to Victoria and New South Wales so don't want to go there again. We have been to Brisbane also. We were thinking about maybe Northern Queensland or Western Australia. What type of activities are there in those states and also in the Northern territory and South Australia. We were hoping for somewhere that isn't too crowded just to relax and our daughter also wants somewhere that has good shopping. Also is there any festivals or events that we should go to while over there? Thank you.

  1. Daintree area - Its at the start of the Great Barrier Reef, its got rainforrests and great accommodations......You could relax their whilst checking out "real australia" Gold Coast is c**p......poor mans vegas!!!!

  2. If you don't want anywhere too crowded (although thats never a problem in Australia) try the Sunshine Coast - much less built up and 'Americanised' than the Gold Coast and much more beautiful, I find the people much friendlier too. Noosa is a lovely spot (very quiet in the evening though) and is near The Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore for shopping, Coolum Beach and Mooloolaba. You can drive on the beach by four wheel drive to Rainbow Beach and go over to Fraser Island, which is absolutely amazing (especially Lake Mackenzie which is breath taking) There aren't as many theme parks or activities as the Gold Coast but there is Australia Zoo and Underwater World) Check it out on www.Noosa.com

  3. if ur going 2 nt the uluru/aryers rock is a must c.

  4. well  stay somewhere near the goldcoast because it has a gizzilion theme parks near there which are heaps of fun. places like moololabar are awsumm cos its hot and the beachs are awsumm and western australia are good like perth apparently it is good for like snorkeling nd stuff but queensland will always be good for beachs n stuff. but make sure you come down to melbourne cos its like the best city everr!

  5. I'm guessing you haven't been here, but you should come to The Gold Coast in QLD,its beautiful and relaxing with so much to do. There are huge water, movie and fun theme parks basically next to each other and Surfers Paradise has a one of a kind beach and a massive shopping area that sells pretty much everything and with nearly every major store. The accommodation throughout is luxury and everywhere is clean and friendly. I see you have been to Brisbane which is the next city up from Gold Coast, but Brisbane is more of a business city where Gold Coast is the beautiful, fun, enjoyment place where you can do your own thing,I honestly believe there is nowhere else like here lol. And there is always something happening here that you can check out,

hope its what your looking for because I love it here!

Good luck and have fun wherever you decide to travel!

  6. I think it's better to head south in December, otherwise it can be too hot. Don't go to northern Qld (Cairns) or Darwin, it's the rainy season with cyclones and you can't swim in the ocean due to the jellyfish.

Tasmania is a great place for tourism, especially to go to Cradle Mountain for the amazing wildlife/nature, and Port Arthur for really interesting Australian convict history. It's not crowded at all.  There isn't terribly much shopping though, you might be better to do that in Melbourne/Sydney on the way.

In South Australia the main tourist activities are visiting the wineries, and also Kangaroo Island which is another great place to see wildlife.

If you want to do the beach thing then any beach south of approx Sydney - Perth would be lovely.

  7. Everyone I know who's been to Darwin says it's Paradise! I love the Gold Coast and Sunshine coast for beaches and entertainment. Perth has nice beaches too. Cairns is very humid but I really enjoyed the atmosphere, from there i went to the tablelands in atherton which was green and lush. There's always alot of festivities going on at bondi. Have a fun trip!
