  1. Darwin is the perfect winter retreat.

    Clear blue skies.

    Balmy dry-season days.

Layed-back atmosphere. No need to rush anywhere.

    Plenty of natural attractions, including:

    *Fish feeding

    *Croc park

*Mindil Beach markets. International cuisine to try.

    *Perfect sunsets

*Lunch or dinner at the wharf, overlooking glassy turquoise seas

*Buley rock hole in Litchfield park (perfect for a dip)

And so much more to discover.

"Of all the places, Darwin keeps me coming back for more.

    Balmy days, turquoise seas,

    vibrant sunsets, ocean breeze.

And I've many natural wonders still to explore."

  2. Should try Peppers Seven Spirits Bay resort an oasis in a paradise cannot get much better when it comes to luxury in the most amazing enviroment in Australia.

Drop me a line  may be able to arrange a visit for you..

    Cheers

  3. Go to The Alice! Like I am going to do.  Lots to see. Dramatic colours on the horizon. Lots of mountains and gorges.  You cant go wrong in the outback, seeing that Australia is 90% desert. I love it. I am a True Blue Aussie.

  4. You could fly into Darwin and explore Lichfield Park and Kakadu (warm weather, outback scenery, crocodiles, Aboriginal art) or you could go to Uluru (Ayers Rock) and explore the great outback.  Both these locations are best in winter as it is too hot to visit in summer.  If you prefer to relax on a beach, you could fly up to Cairns and explore the Great Barrier Reef.

  5. Check out Bright in the High Country Region, North East Victoria. Awesome little town which goes off in the ski season. Beautiful scenery, cute little shops and cafes and clean fresh mountain air. Only 30 minutes away from the ski slopes.

If you are lucky spend a Saturday night there. The Alpine Hotel (the only pub in Bright) is party central.

  6. Go to the airport, get on a planer to somewhere warm.

  7. How about Canberra and the snowy region. Isn't that what's snow is for  - in winter?

Cheers from Southern New South Wales.

  8. Mount Beauty in north east Vic. Great scenery, a good range of accommodation and restaruants , 30ks from Falls Creek alpine resort, mountain bikeing, horse riding, fishing, walking tracks. All this in a quiet friendly town

  9. Stanthorpe - Granite Belt Region in SE Qld.

    Drink wine!

  10. Port Douglas - North Queensland

Go out in a boat & snorkel & if possible do diving as well, it is awesome. Also go for a drive to Cairns, the view is absolutely beautiful.

It's a gorgeous part of Australia.

  12. Perth!! Is always quite, relaxing and green. Me and my family moved here not to long ago. And every person who came to visit us wants to come back! Our city is quite and traffic free. There are loads of things to do, particularly for the out-doories people and every one is really friendly!

traditional Airlie beach, 'Crocdile' club, shopping in the main street, Shelley beach & a little further away but true to its name is

    "Hideaway Bay"

Nearby Proserpine offers the "Laguna Quays" resort.

    Good meals not too expensive.

Quiet & private with a great golf course for those who like to play golf.

Many celebrities have played on this course without attracting any publicity eg. Bill Gates.

  16. If you like the warmth, head north.

If you like the cold, head south.

If you like the snow, go to the mountains.

If you like staying in bed with a doona over your head, stay at home.

  17. Broome & do very little, walk on the beach & watch the sunset great, wish I was there.

  18. Tom, get yourself to Coonawarra, SA!

Winter is the perfect time to sample Australia's greatest cabernet while you relax and unwind in one of the region's luxurious private retreats.

With plenty of log fires to warm you, there's also tasty restaurants and cafe's, quirky galleries, shopping fun for the girls and great golf courses for the boys. With over 20 wineries along the famous 'terra rossa' cigar strip of soil  -  where the vines struggle for survival ensures the finest, full-flavoured seductive cabernet wines in Australia - it's a must-see on every r&r itinerary.

There's a whole history in the nearby town of Penola, also the home to possibly Australia's first Saint, Mary MacKillop. Tour Yallum Park, stroll down Petticoat Lane and sample herbs from the garden or experience a part of the Scottish culture at the informative and enjoyable visitor centre.

Winter is celebrated by the wineries showing aged wines during the month of July for "Cellar Dwellers". You have the chance to taste some rare and hard to find wines, win an instant 'aged' cellar and make some great new friends.

  23. Escape the winter months and head for tropical balmy NT.

    1. Hire a house boat on the Corroboree River in the Northern Territory (about 1.5 hour drive from Darwin) Most gorgeous scenic river, spectacular wildlife and good fishing. April/May are the best months, tail end of the wet but not yet the dry so weather is still a bit warm and balmy without the big storms and monsoon. (house boats have aircond)

    2. The Barra Botel (an old adelaide river queen boat converted into a hotel, hence Botel) it moves around but generally you will find it at the mouth of the Sand Pan or the mouth of the Daly....

    3. Goat Island is a mini island about 1hr boat ride from the Adelaide River boat ramp. There are aircond cabins with ensuit, a spa on the decking, a licenced kitchen/cafe, a pontoon to keep your boats tied to, and a resident croc named Casey that comes in for a feed of roast potatos!

    4. Darwin itself is lovely in june/july;

Explore the mindil beach & parap markets... where cuisine from all countries can be savoured....

July 1st is fire cracker night where beaches come to life with fireworks and a spactalar government funded fireworks display over the harbour...

Greek Glenti in June.... V8 Super cars in June also... Darwin Cup later part of the year... Hookers Ball  in October!!! (now those are good fun) 'Tour de p**s' which is basically a pub crawl on push bikes...

The Festival of Darwin which runs for about a month with various arts and performances at the George Brown Botanical Gardens...

Crocodylus Park, Territory Wildlife Park, Crocodile Farm, Jumping Crocodile Cruise on the Adelaide River, Kakadu scenic flights, Yellow Water River Cruise....

Litchfield National Park, where you can take your pick from Florence Falls or Buely Rock Hole to go swimming then head up the Wangi Falls for some lunch... Or camp there if like....

Darwin has great night life... Pubs and Night clubs are always packed on the weekends, even during the week

Take fresh prawns and oysters and your favourite beverage to the cliffs at east point and watch the sunset over the harbour... Great pizza and fish'n'chip joint just around the corner too...

The Ski Club is a great casual easy going place to hang out with friends, watch the sunset and have a cheap meal and cold beer. The atmosphere there really has really captured the true spirit of the Darwin lifestyle.

Anyway... thats probably enough, but there is more.  Yep... im a born and bred Territorian and I love Darwin, its my paradise.

  26. DEFINATELY The Bloomfield Lodge in far North Queensland!

Like a slice of heaven on Earth!

    http://www.bloomfieldlodge.com.au/

An interesting way to get there :)

    Getting There

From the moment you arrive at the VIP lounge to board your privately chartered plane for the scenic flight from Cairns, you know this is to be no ordinary holiday experience. Flying up the dazzling Queensland coastline you glimpse tiny deserted islands, the pristine white sails of the occasional yacht and a kaleidoscope of aquamarine along the fringing coral reefs. Before long, the vast tropical lushness of the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest unfolds below, and with a short outback drive and a gentle cruise downriver and across Weary Bay, you are welcomed into the soothing oasis that is Bloomfield.

    The food is FABULOUS!

    Sample menu

includes rainforests walks and a relaxing tour of the Bloomfield River/ Mangroves

    Fishing!!!

    Historical Cook Town

Can even have a day trip to snorkel the Great Barrier Reef

I am not associated in any way with Bloomfield or this tour company, but would HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend both

    http://www.great-barrier-reef.au.com/tou...

They have an on board marine biologist (Uncle Fluffy is his name) He is a bit of an Aussie larrikan, but EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the Reef, sea turtles etc and one can learn as little or as much as they like about our Wonder of the World Down Under!

Please let me know what you think! Keep up the great work that you do and I hope to one day be able to shake your hand and say G'day!

Hope you have a great day and this helps!

    Cheers!

Enjoy! And hope we get to see this absolutely wonderful experience explored on tele!

Here is where Bloomfield is situated (You would hardly think the resort exists amongst the Daintree!)
