Ideally, I would like to donate them to a place where people can find them and take them for free or next to nothing if the materials appeal to them. Also, would there be a library or any other entity interested in a bunch of past issues of The New Yorker magazine (also in good used condition)?

  1. You can try the Open Books project sponsored by the Illinois Reading Council (http://www.open-books.org/donate.php). The Chicago Recycling Coalition lists a bunch of options, including giving them to the public library (http://www.chicagorecycling.org/index.ph... And there's even a program that gives books to prisoners (http://www.books2prisoners.org/links.htm... As for the magazines, not sure. I'd just put something on craigslist.com or in the Reader and let whomever wants them come and get them. Or just take them to a recycler.
