We're going to Chile and Argentina in mid November. We'll be there for 15 days. We'd like to get recommendations on "MUST-SEE" places in these two countries. All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. If you can recommend hotels and restaurants, too, that would be so awesome. :) Thanks!

  1. In Argentina, while in Buenos Aires:

    Recoleta

    Palermo Hollywood

    Avenida Corrientes

    Avenida 9 de Julio

    In the Argentine provinces:

Calafate (home of the Perito Moreno Glaciar)

    Villa La Angostura

    Bariloche

    San Martin de los Andes

  2. I'll try not to be biased (I'm Chilean) ... both countries are beautiful, great for couples on holidays, since they are not dangerous at all.

The only problem is that the countries are too big and you'll need to be hoping on planes quite a lot. Check www.lan.com for some special deals for foreingners.

Must sees in Argentine: Buenos Aires, definitely. It's one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Bariloche in the south is gorgeous, actually, the whole of the Patagonia is magnificent.

In Chile: Valparaiso and Vina del Mar are very romantic, and the wheather is great that time of year. The central valley region is great as well, since all the wine comes from there. There are great "wine tasting" tours!.

But personally I love the south, where I come from: Puerto Varas, Puerto Montt, Chiloe Island, Punta Arenas and Torres del Paine National Park.

There is a great website supported by the governmet with all the information:

There is a very good guide at:

A couple of years ago my fiance at the time (husband now) and I took a wonderful tour: from Puerto Montt to Bariloche crossing the Andes through lakes! It was great. We spent the new year in Bariloche eating chocolates and then went back to Chile the same way. Just keep in mind that Argentinians are not very concern with punctuality ... ;-)

    I hope it helps!
