Which Maxmilian are you thinking of I or II or II? There were a few) It would be in Bavaria either way. It could be Maximilian II Emanuel, Elector of Bavaria with Nymphenburg Palace, a very popular place in Munich. Schleissheim Palace outside of Munich is less known, but also big.

Maximilian II of Bavaria, with Hohenschwangau, a great castle, but not really a palace.

Maximilian I of Bavaria, expanded on the Residence, kindof a palace.

I would guess you mean #1 and would choose Schleissheim, since that was really his.

Are you sure it's in Germany? Maximilian's Palace is located in Chapultepec outside Mexico City, Mexico.

Maximilian I of Bavaria had the great castle of Hohenschwangau in southern Germany.

Maximilian II of Bavaria made several castles, including Neuchwanstein, just above his father's castle. From here you actually have the best view of Hohenschwangau than any other location.
