Where in Italy can i find a place which has a lot of historical and cultural surroundings. As i love to see such things.

Rome, Venice, Milan, Florence, Naples ...  just about every city in Italy fits this criteria, plus all the smaller medieval towns and villages.

This is a loaded question, Italy is full of historical places and cultural activities. I can better answer your question if you were to tell me if you were going alone, with a partner, or with family (with children).

Personally, I love the region of Puglia. If you land in Bari and get a hotel or farm-style bed and breakfast (aka Agriturismo) in Alberobello, you will already be located in a beautiful and historic venue, with plenty of cultural and gastronomic pleasures to be had. What's more, is that from that one point, you can either jump on a train or drive just a few miles in any direction and be smack dab in the middle of an other adventure filled historical area (architecture, museums, landmarks, and more). If at any time you feel like you need a break, you are no more than about an hour from the beautiful coastal towns of Polignano a Mare, Brindisi and others.

This Southern part of Italy is where many Northern Italians come for Ferragosto (vacation/holiday during the month of August), or just to get away from the hustle and bustle commonly found in the North. Another thing I have discovered after years of traveling throughout Italy, the South is much more welcoming to tourists; allowing you to really get immeresed in the lifestyle and culture more readily. And the last thing I love about it, it is certainly less expensive than the North; allowing you to get more of everything for your shrinking dollar (especially if you are from the states).

my special suggestion is rome ... i jus love that place .... if you go early in the mornin at 8.30 you mite get a chance to see the pope and jus close to the place where the pope lives is the big museum .... then vennice is another cool place where its such a romantic place and a lovely place u'd jus wanna admire the sculptures and stuff forever....these are two good places in rome you can go to several places my best suggestion is rome and vennice .....gud luck
