  1. I recommend you take a trip there first...You can't just go on what people say....It is very beautiful indeed but visit a couple times first.

  2. The island IS BEAUTIFUL...its the people that s***w it up....best thing to do is go there a few weeks & learn more about day to day life and see if you can deal with it before moving there. My choice would be Ocho Rios, big enough to get what you need, yet small enough you won't feel "lost". Montego Bay is too big, and dangerous at night, Kingston WAY too big & dangerous, and Negril, although very nice, is FULL of hustlers & its way too exspensive.

  3. probably a tourist area, if you can afford it.

  4. You have to make sure you can afford to live there.

The best place is Mandeville in Manchester. Its big but not too big, anything you want to do is available. Its cleaner, people are friendlier, and not too expensive. The weather during certain times feels almost like the spring /fall in a 4 season country probably because its high above sea level.

It is also one of the safest place to live in Jamaica because Manchesterians do not condone crime and are usually active in crime prevention in their communities. Neighborhood watch etc. If you don't belong in the neighborhood the cops will be called and you will be escorted out.

The best neighborhoods is ingleside, that is a high income 'hood with diversity white, black, asain all kinds of JA's

Moderate income is Hope Village, Knowles road ...etc

The downside is its the best place to start a business because they is not a lot of jobs available there.

Anyway the reality is a place is always beautiful when you visit but reality sets in when you have to deal with the issues the country faces.

  5. You should visit first . Upon your visit ,listen to the radio of how they always attack the returning residents and especially in Mandeville,Manchester. Jamaica is wonderful for vacation but if your going to live try checking out the Palmyera properties in Rose Hall. I purchased one for investment reasons ;hoping to some day move back to my home Jamaica. This is a secure and weathy community. This property is connected underground with all the  hotels ie Half moon ,the Ritz Carlton as more. See for yourself. Great golfing and the scenery is impecable.

  6. Yes Jamaica is beautiful ! I'm moving there in the summer. Something that you must do is visit first and see if you can check out some places or areas that you'd like to live. You'll wanna know what your getting yourself into before you get into it ya know ?

Jamaica is a nice place to live. People are very very friendly ! More than any other country , you could make friends just like that. And when your walking anywhere or going anywhere people are always saying good morning, good evening and good night. Depends on what time of the day it is.

Jamaica has Dunns River Falls, beautiful beaches, beautiful white sands, very very friendly people, lots of fun things to do. But you'll need to visit first and see what job options would be available to you.

    Places You Could Live :

    1. Ocho Rios - The most famous water fall is there Dunns River Falls and a place called Dolphin Cove where you can swim with dolphins.

    2. Negril - #1 Party Spot in Jamaica. If you love partying this is the place to live.

    3. May Pen - It has shopping malls and stores where you can buy any little thing. Basically if you live in May Pen you'll be able to buy any little thing you want clothes, food, movies..etc.

    4. Mandeville - A friend of mine in Jamaica was telling me how his brother lives there and it's really nice.

  7. If you live here it will depend on who you are moving here with and what your lifestyle is like. Add details. Many different places suit many different needs. One place I would reccommend to anyone is Mandeville, though. it is nice and cool and pretty integrated. not a resort area but you can live there. Plus we are a small Island so you can get around pretty easily. If you do something different every weekend you will not run out of activities for at least 5 years.

  8. Assuming you can even move to Jamaica [there are immigration laws, time limitations, employment limitations, etc], it doesn't make much sense to move somewhere you've never even visited.  Jamaica is a beautiful island, but there is a lot of poverty and crime, too.
