  1. I don't know much about prices in Charlotte, Nc.

I would say seoul prices are equal with NY or LA(food and clothes is cheaper than us).  and other region in korea  are cheaper than those of cities.

but in general, U.S prices are 1.5times more expansive than korea's. so i think "BUSAN" the second city in korea is comparable to Charlotte, NC, or less.

  2. In any of the smaller towns or the larger cities other then Seoul would be comparable or less.

Most of your utilities are cheaper then in the states. The thing that is getting expensive is food. Some of it depends on what kind of lifestyle you want to live (ie are you going to have cable, internet, a house phone/cell phone). Internet runs 35,000-50,000 a month, cable is generally 15,000-30,000, a house phone is 15,000 and a cell phone if you don't use it too much runs less then 20,000 a month (you have to buy your phone though).

Generally the school pays for your housing and you may have to pay a small maintenance fee (this usually goes for cleaning the common areas of the buildings like stairwells and the front of the building). The fee can very from 10,000-50,000 depending on the size of the building and how nice it is.

  3. Southern korea like Busan, Masan and Haman are very affordable.

I lived in charlotte for about 7 years. Email me if you have any questions.
