Where in Los Angeles can I find a good bowl of matzo ball soup?

When I was a kid, my mom made great matzo ball soup with small, delicious matzo balls. Most delis served something similar as well. These days the trend is all towards massive, fluffy, bland balls. Anybody know of a place in LA (preferably San Fernando Valley) where I can get a good bowl of mb soup, preferably w/smaller balls?

  1. Although not in the SFV, supposedly the ONLY place to go for matzo ball soup is Nate 'n Al's - 414 N. Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.

  2. The Soup n**i on Rodeo Drive...just kidding.

  3. Any of the Jerry's Deli or Solbys (sp) Deli.  But they both use the huge balls.  You might try Canters in the Fairfax district.

I think most of them have gone to the large size because they do not cook them together and it would have to spend more time fixing it.  If anything, you can cut them up when you get it.

  4. Canter's on Fairfax. You cannot go wrong. Everytime I get sick, I drag myself to Canter's for matzo ball soup and I'm better in a matter of days.

  5. Weiler’s, located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley at 9046 Balboa Boulevard in Northridge, has been famous for fine food since 1962.

Great matzo ball soup in san fernando valley!
