We are moving there and I would love to get some feedback on where the best place(s) to stay is. Preferably with a good Australian Primary School in the area.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Ivanhoe Grammar is a good co-ed school, and Ivanhoe and surrounding suburbs are really nice places to live.

  2. If you're looking for a good but inexpensive family-orientated Melbourne suburb, I would suggest the following:

    *Berwick

    *Narre Warren

    *Cheltenham-area

It really depends on how far away from the CBD you want to live, and how long your daily work commune should be, but generally the futhur away from the CBD you reside, the cheaper the houses will be.

While Cheltenham (or surrounding suburbs) is generally closer to the CBD than Berwick or Narre Warren, the houses tend to be smaller, and you get less value for the money.

Berwick and Narre Warren are about 45 mins from the CBD on a good traffic run down the freeway, but the houses are much bigger, the air is cleaner, is it is much less crowded. The south-eastern suburbs are a top choice for young families wishing to expand.

It really just depends how much you're looking at spending on rent or mortgage repayments.
