My wife & I would like to experience the outback in NSW. We'd really like to work on a farm & get a taste for the lifestyle. Where can we go?

  1. Broken Hill is the biggest town in outback NSW. You could do a homestay or perhaps become a Jackaroo.

  2. If you're really keen on the outback lifestyle, you could try going to a Jackaroo/Jillaroo school. It's more of a life experience than a holiday but you'd really get to know about living on a farm!

  3. the other suggestions on here are nice too, but i reckon try out Orange. its a nice country town and alot of properties have acreage with those really picturesque hills and stuff. my dad grew up there, the house that my grandfather builts about 50 years ago is still there. so it has alot of history too. also, everyone knows everyone (in a good way!)

  4. I would suggest anyting west of about Cobar.  Bourke, Wilcannia or Broken Hill.  Are you thinking about a short visit, or a longer commitment?  If a short visit I am sure that there are some farmstay properties out there.
