Where in NY is a good place to surf? Years ago I went to Long Beach and it wasn't that great.?

got to try going to the beaches up close to la theres some real hot spots check it!

You cannot judge a beach's surf potential in a single visit.  If you happen to be there during a flat spell, which are plentiful on the East Coast, you could miss out on a good spot.  

Long Island gets plenty of good surf, but like every where else on the East Coast it is just not as consistent as the West Coast.  Jersey can also get ridiculously good surf.

Dig through the surf maps on surfline or wannasurf.  There's lots of good info out there on the web, you just gotta sift through it.
