Question:

Where in PA can I buy Lebanon Bologna in a "sack", not a stick/tube?

I was asked by my grandfather to pick him up a "sack" of sweet Lebanon Bologna while my wife and I are in Lancaster PA on vacation. I thought "ok, no problem", but then thought "wait...a SACK? a burlap sack?? I've never seen it sold like this." Grandpa is rather picky about his sausages/meats/,..and even cheese for that matter, so i don't want to pick up something that isn't correct. Does anyone know where in (or around) Lancaster that I can get this sweet bologna in a "Sack?" Thanks a million to whomever helps me figure this out.

  1. Lebanon Bologna is nothing more than ground meat that is placed in a sock-like sack, soaked in a brine of sorts and smoked forever.

Well, you could start by hitting Central Market (I believe its on Tuesdays and Fridays).

Many of the local grocery stores: Darrenkamps (Willow Street), Yoders (New Holland) or Shady Maple (Blue Ball) may carry such an item as the locals are equally as particular about their meats.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing, like a good Lebanon or Sweet Lebanon Bologna.  If you have never tried it, you ought to, it will change your life.
