My Fiance and I moved from Sacramento, CA to Florence, OR. We hate the rain here and the jobs suck! We were thinking of moving back to Sacramento, now we're thinking Reno (cus his buddy said it's cool there), so I'm just doing research, where in Reno is a good spot to live?

  1. Come back to sac! We miss you :)

  2. unless you like smoking, gambling and hot weather-move somewhere else.

  3. There are two parts of town I would recommend.  First is the Old Southwest.  As it's name indicates, it's old.  The Old Southwest is a great part of town with a lot of character.  Many brick houses, mature trees and cool restaurants.  This part of town is also very close to downtown Reno, so you're only minutes away from the big casinos, more restaurants and shopping.  If you're a  renter there are a lot of great apartment buildings in this part of town and if you're a home owner, you'll be looking at around $300K to start.

The second part of town I would recommend is South Reno.  South Reno is a newer part of the city with most of the homes being new construction and some-what upscale.  It's about 10-15 minutes from downtown, but is only minutes from the new Sierra Summit shopping center (with stores like Dillards, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, etc.).  Again, there are many apartment buildings, tons of condos and homs for sale.

If you don't mind being outside Reno, Spanish Springs is also a new development in East Sparks.  This is about 20-30 minutes from downtown, but is growing rapidly.

Best of luck in your move and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me directly.
