  1. Gorillas are great apes (chimpanzees, orangutans, gorillas, humans).  Without getting into controversy over the hominid question, all great apes excepting humans only exist naturally in the wild in Africa.

Gorillas are not naturally present in South America, nor are any great apes.  Only primates known as "new world monkeys" exist in the Americas.  They differ from Old world monkeys and apes in Africa.

  2. There are no gorillas in South America.  Around 1917 a Swiss geologist named de Loys claimed he shot and killed a large gorilla like animal near the Columbian and Venezuelan borders. He then claimed it was something like a small human. He was disproved. The only place to find gorillas is on the African continent.

  3. They don't live anywhere in South America. Only central Africa.

  4. IN THE GOBERMENT!!!!!     LOL.
