  1. I hate to say it, but your best bet is to start with a lawyer that speicalizes in civil law.

  2. At the court house

  3. You need to go to the courthouse and get the correct forms.  The staff at the courthouse should be able to guide you through the simple process.  Have your birth certificate, social security card and driver's license with you.

Once the form is submitted, and you've paid the filing fee, the court will either notify you of where/when to appear before a judge or the judge or magistrate might simply approve your request and send you a final order that the request has been approved.

Once you've had your name legally changed by the courts, you will have to use that court order to have your social security card and driver's license both changed to show your new legal name.

  4. See a lawyer who specilizes in this area OR ck with the

courthouse if you can find someone with a brain who has a job there.  Notice I did not say works at the courthouse since no such thing takes place at any courthouse.

  5. First make sure this is what you really want and it is OK with your family. You are unique and so is your name. Find a good lawyer and go for it, Make sure though you are doing it for you not someone else or for a religion.
