Where in Sydney is the best place to buy a house?

For that price and maybe a bit more, you can probably get yourself an average 3 bedroom home in the south western and western regions of Sydney, which has higher crime levels compared to elsewhere.

The inner south western suburbs you may want to look at include: Canterbury, Campsie, Belmore, Lakemba, Wiley Park, Punchbowl and Bankstown and neighbouring suburbs such as Belfield and Greenarce. These are all between 15-20kms from the CBD. The outer suburbs in this region are Fairfield, Cabramatta and Campbelltown, which can stretch for 60kms and beyond.

In the western region, you should look at places such as Blacktown, Mt Druitt and Penrith. This region, however, has extreme weather and is prone to property damage every year.

Overall, it'd be hard to get a decent house in a good area with that money but with believe, you will find one.

G'day mate. It depends where you want to live. Two hundred & fifty gees is going to buy you a lot more house for your money out in the western suburbs than it will closer to the city, but then again, you're gonna need a bit of luck to find very much for that money in Sydney any way with the price of property here.

You can buy a nice 3 bedroom home if you look in the western suburbs but you have to be prepared to live here and if you work in the city you need to be prepared to travel.

For the money you have available to you I can't see you buying in a preferred area.

Mother nature can be cruel anywhere in Australia and the world, no one can predict where or when its going to happen.

Presently there are older style houses available in Campbelltown in quite areas close to and not too far from the CBD for under $300.000.

Don't believe what the Campbelltown bashers have to say about the place the majority of them have never been there, sure there are a couple of problem areas but unless you live in those areas you wouldn't know they exist.

gees good luck in trying to find a one bedroom house. You would do better with an apartment. However if you look very hard you MIGHT find one. Most houses these days have 2 ro bedrooms. If you want cheap housing and aren't concerned about the area, try the Western Suburbs around Blacktown and neighbouring suburbs. the further out past Parramatta you go, the cheaper the housing gets.
