i am more attracted to mountainous and rural landscape but good standard of living and reasonably cheap housing, with a big city near by and friendly people. (and not too cold!)

  1. Mountain Scenery - then its Glacier National Park or Yellowstone National Park (Montana and Wyoming!).  While at Yellowstone make sure that you see Jackson Hole and the Grand Teton National Park.  However, no big city nearby....the best with a big city is Denver, but mountains don't compare to those listed.

Canada, try Vancouver....great mountains / skiing at Whistler!

  2. Well, I love Albuquerque, it's beautiful there. Also, Colorado is really nice, especially near the Vail area. Michigan also has beautiful scenery in the Upper Peninsula with the Porcupine Mountains and Lake Superior; but they aren't any REALLY large cities in the Upper Peninsula. The Lower Peninsula is nice too, though, just no mountains.

  3. I love Arizona, especially by the riparian areas.  (Riparian meaning by the river.)  If you go to central to northern AZ the summers do not get too hot and the winters are like a northern US summer.  Mountains are everywhere and, if you like the beach, it's just a 4 hour drive down to Mexico for a week long break.  Flagstaff gets enough snow to make a snow-sporter happy too.

(Housing prices are falling everywhere except Flagstaff where you pay to be by S.F Peaks)

  4. Check out Colorado, Montana, Idaho or Washington State.

  5. Canada for sure
