Many alternative activities too, both at the clean sea or in the nationalparks in the inland.

My most fantastic visit to Italy was to Rome and Sorrento; from Sorrento we visited Pompeii which was absolutely awesome! Sad too, to capture people at the moment of their terrible deaths, but amazing to walk around the town and see just how people lived then. Vesuvius too - the live and still smoking volcano is well worth a visit.

Hope this helps - whatever you decide, have a great trip!

The Soave valley is close by - wine is inexpensive...some farmers sell their own stuff on the roadside.

naturally, Lago di Garda is not to be missed...

the catacombs of Lago Di Como were nice...
