  1. Devi is one of the best Indian restaurants in the City. An Indian restaurant might not sound like it would be very romantic, but I think this would fit the bill for what you're looking for. Check out this recommendation from a Chowhound poster:

Devi is just slightly north of 14th St., on 18th, b/t 5th & B'way. The Indian cuisine served there is superb -- some of the best anywhere -- and the menu has many vegetarian dishes. There is also a very good wine list. If your $150 budget is for food only, you could do the tasting menus, one of which is vegetarian. If not, you should be able to put together a wonderful meal from the a la carte menu, particularly since a lot of dishes can be shared. Even though the space is large, it has unique, elegant decor and an exotic feel. For added coziness and romance, ask to be seated in one of the curtained booths at the rear of the main level or on the small, more intimate balcony.
